I have never offered a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, I help each person figure out what works for their body, their preferences, their budget, their family, their schedule, their kitchen.
This website is for anybody following a special diet or a diet free from any ingredients. This includes Low Sodium, Low Fat, Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Nut Free, Corn Free, Soy Free No Added Sugar, Free from preservatives & additives, diets for allergies and food sensitivities, elimination diets including LEAP/MRT and any type of diet where individual foods and ingredients are critical for success and safety.
On this website, you’ll get help figuring out which foods fit in your INDIVIDUAL diet, which groceries will make your life easier, and how to make grocery shopping less stressful. And while this is definitely NOT a website about discount grocery shopping, I’ll share strategies that can make shopping for special diets more affordable.
On a personal note, the idea for Single Ingredient Groceries came to me while shopping for my little son who was being treated for food sensitivities. He was three years old and suffering from hives, itching, and all types of skin rashes. It was a really challenging time. Not only was he uncomfortable all the time, but I had to spend so much time going from grocery store to specialty store trying to find the foods he could eat. It was costly, tiring, and time-consuming. I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it just be easier to order everything I need online?
I’m Lisa – a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified LEAP Therapist (food sensitivity expert). I help people on special diets find food that helps them feel their best. If you have food allergies, food sensitivities, or follow a diet that is “free from” any ingredient, you probably know that grocery shopping can be frustrating, annoying, and costly. I have been there! This website shows how I help clients in my private practice make grocery shopping easier and less costly. I will share recipes as well as really helpful resources, tips, tricks, tools, and deals…to make your life easier and to help you feel your best.
A little bit of CLARIFICATION
There are lots of ways to define diets and ways of eating.
For this website the words “diet” and “special diet” will be used to mean any style of eating where specific ingredients are critical for health, comfort, wellness, success, safety, and symptom control. And while healthy body weight is often a result of good nutrition, this website does not specifically address weight loss diets.
Most groceries featured on this website contain only a SINGLE INGREDIENT with no preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial colors, flavor enhancers or a combination of ingredients. Some products may also include salt. So, while these don’t technically contain ONE ingredient, they are still included because salt is generally non-reactive for those with food allergies and sensitivities.
